It starts with a small ripple, and before you know it, you're navigating waves in your living room carpet. Don't worry, it's a super common issue here in Georgetown, often caused by our changing humidity or just time. Those bumps aren't just an eyesore; they can be a real tripping hazard and cause your carpet to wear out unevenly. The good news is that it’s usually a straightforward fix that doesn't require a full replacement. We can get it looking flat and safe again in no time.Carpet Stretching & Repair

What Causes Carpets to Buckle and Ripple?

Ever wonder how those annoying waves appeared in your hallway? Most of the time, it's not your fault! Often, carpets weren't stretched properly with a power stretcher during the initial installation. Over time, and with foot traffic, they loosen up. Our classic Southern Ontario humidity swings can also cause the carpet's backing to expand and contract, leading to ripples. Sometimes, even dragging heavy furniture across the room can do it. Whatever the cause, it's a problem we can definitely solve.

Our Simple, Effective Repair Process

Fixing a loose carpet is all about getting the tension right again. When I arrive, I'll first assess the room and determine the best way to stretch it. We clear the room of furniture to get a clear workspace. I use a professional power stretcher, which is the key tool for the job. This tool allows me to apply significant, even tension across the entire carpet, pulling it tight towards the walls. It's much more effective than the small 'knee-kickers' some installers use, which often lead to the problem reoccurring.

Once the carpet is pulled drum-tight, I re-attach it to the tack strips that run along the baseboards. I'll then carefully trim away any excess carpet material, leaving a clean, perfectly fitted edge. The result is a completely flat, smooth surface that looks fantastic and is safe to walk on. We can also handle other common repairs, like fixing seams that have come apart, patching small burns or stains, or repairing damage from a curious pet. We'll make sure everything is cleaned up before we leave, so all you see is your beautifully restored carpet.

"My project was a little over 1000 sq ft of hardwood flooring, 350 ft of baseboard trim, 350 feet of door stop and 10 sq ft of tile in front of a fireplace. Upon completion, the rooms looked fabulous for 2 reasons. One was the natural warmth and elegance of wood flooring and secondly, the workmanship of Rudy and his crew. The quality and professionalism of the job was no more evident then where the tile and wood met. The tile was raised to the level of the wood thickness and the 2 met each other at an odd angle. The transition between the 2 surfaces was seamless and flawless and no transition pieces were required to hide any shortcomings. I was most impressed with this part of the job as only an experienced professional would do such a perfect job. In addition, Rudy and his crew were very courteous and cleaned up the mess after each days work. Even though I invited them to bring their saws and cutters indoors because it was cold, they insisted on doing this part of the job outdoor to minimise the mess in my home. I would definitely recommend Rudy and his crew to anyone seeking to have their flooring done. He is reasonably priced and offers quality work in exchange. Thanks Rudy and crew. Great Job."

"Rudy and his assistant, Mo, worked very hard to complete our stair project on time and on budget. They did not complain or come back to us with updated quotes or other issues. We are very pleased with the final result and have received many compliments on our new staircase. To add a touch of class, we offered them water from our garage fridge and to our surprise, they replaced the water they used at the end of the week. It was a very nice (but unnecessary) thing to do. Our only issue in the end was that some of the nails were still visible on the quarter round used to finish the trim work and there were a few blemishes on the stairs we had to touch up. These were very minor and ultimately, we couldn't be happier with the completed project. We would definitely recommend Rudy and his Team."
