Why Carpet Gets Loose
Carpet isn't supposed to have waves in it. When you see ripples or buckles, it's a sign of a problem. Usually, it's one of a few things: poor installation, age, or heavy traffic. An installer who only used a knee kicker instead of a power stretcher might have left it too loose from the start. Over the years, walking on it, dragging furniture, and even changes in humidity can cause the backing to relax and expand. The result is a loose fit that only gets worse over time. It wears out the carpet faster and creates a dangerous tripping hazard.
Our Stretching Process: No Shortcuts
Fixing it requires more than just kicking it into a corner. We do it the right way to make sure it lasts. First, we'll carefully move your furniture out of the work area. Then, we detach the carpet from the tack strips along the edges of the room. Using a professional power stretcher, we apply hundreds of pounds of tension to pull the carpet tight across the entire floor, removing every wrinkle. This tool braces against an opposite wall, giving us the leverage needed for a drum-tight finish. Once it's tight, we re-secure it to the tack strips, trim any excess material, and neatly tuck the edge. Your carpet will be flat, smooth, and secure.
More Than Just Stretching: Common Repairs
Sometimes the problem is more than just looseness. We handle common indoor carpet repairs as well. If you have a seam that's coming apart, we can re-seal it to be strong and nearly invisible. Got a burn mark, a stubborn stain, or a spot the cat tore up? We can often cut out the damaged section and seamlessly patch it with a matching piece of carpet from a remnant or an unseen area like a closet. "Just like everyone out there trying to upgrade their home, we decided to update the living room flooring from old dirty carpet to nice low maintenance Laminate. Thinking we could do it ourselves as DIY folks. Well like all great projects, we failed to estimate the cost of the tools to do the project and our lack of expertise.
